    1. One of the disturbing scenes in Marc_Elsberg's book Blackout that I can't get out of my head are all the cows dying in writhing pain, because milking machines won't work without power. It's such a succinct summary of how human 'modernization' will lead to horrible ends.

    This is why every time I hear 'digital transformation' I try to imagine the casualties. They are close, they are far, and they are invisible. Only to be acknowledged when it starts becoming too uncomfortable to ignore them. The suffering plays on... ethical.net/technology/the-slavery-supported-the-device-in-your-pocket/
